My name is Rhett Zenke, and I am not a politician. I am an auto mechanic, a husband, and a father of three. I know what it is like to live within your means, and I think it is time for a little common sense to return to our state capitol.
These days it seems that the more money we send to St. Paul, the less we get back, and the more they want to take. I think that our state government needs to give us more “bang for the buck”. The skyrocketing cost of gas and groceries have put a lot of pressure on the family budget but the problem is you simply can’t ask your boss for more money, you have to tighten your belt, and cut costs to make ends meet. The Democrats in St. Paul are facing a huge budget shortfall in the future too, but guess where they are going to get the money from.
I think that we need to tell St. Paul that enough is enough. The citizens of greater Minnesota are not in favor of English as an optional language. We are not in favor of welfare for drug users. We don’t think that bad guys need parole instead of prison. We don’t need a light rail system that does nothing to alleviate congestion in the Metro area, and we certainly don’t think that the politicians in St. Paul need a 15% pay raise. But that’s what they did in the last 2 years.
What we need is our roads fixed, our streets safe, our gun rights protected, and, most importantly, we need safe, clean, and less expensive energy for a strong economy and good jobs.
Thank you for your time, and I hope I can count on your support this fall.
